ARTIST STATEMENT

Painting is not just an activity for me—it is an essential part of who I am. When my works come together to fill a space, it feels as though my inner world has been set free, made visible to the outside.

Through female figures, color, and pattern, I give shape to emotions that words cannot contain. The female form acts as my alter ego, reflecting simultaneously strength, vulnerability, and transformation. This is where I feel at home.

Color and pattern are my language, revealing contrasts: silence and noise, order and chaos, intimacy and distance. In Soul Environment, I explore the whirlwind of my ADD mind, where thoughts and stimuli collide. In The Journey and Embrace, I capture women in moments of transition—from holding on to letting go, from searching to finding.

My paintings are figurative and contemporary, primarily acrylic on canvas, usually around 120 cm. They emerge intuitively, yet always with a mindful eye on composition, structure, and layers. These works carry my story, while inviting the viewer to find their own emotions and experiences in the delicate tension between vulnerability and strength, imperfection and beauty.

ABOUT

Tinneke De Block is a contemporary figurative artist based in Belgium. Working primarily with acrylics, she creates paintings where femininity, symbolism and emotion converge. Patterns and recurring motifs form the visual language of her alter ego — a world that blurs the line between the intimate and the universal. Her work invites the viewer into a dialogue of color, form and contemplation, where inner landscapes become shared experiences.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

My artistic journey began with a fascination for image, fashion, and graphics, creating figurative works often featuring female figures, patterns, and graphic elements.

On my webshop Atelier Tinika , you can explore my fashion-inspired work and stationery line.

Over time, my work evolved from decorative to personal and expressive, with the female figure becoming my alter ego—carrying emotions, life stages, and inner landscapes, particularly through series like Soul Environment, The Journey, and Embrace. Today, I explore how my visual language can resonate both in galleries and in collaboration with fashion and interior design, always aiming to capture the tension between vulnerability and strength that invites viewers to see themselves in my work.
